Open the Image: JPEG Cleanup Start by opening the JPEG image in Photoshop 7.0.
Duplicate the Background Layer: Right-click on the Background layer in the Layers panel and choose “Duplicate Layer.” This creates a copy of the original image, which you can work on without affecting the original.
Apply Gaussian Blur: To reduce noise, you can apply a slight Gaussian Blur to the duplicated layer. Go to “Filter” > “Blur” > “Gaussian Blur.” Set a low Radius value (usually around 1-2 pixels). The exact value may vary depending on the image and the level of noise.
Blend the Duplicated Layer: Change the blending mode of the duplicated layer to “Overlay” or “Soft Light” from the dropdown menu in the Layers panel. Adjust the layer opacity to control the strength of the noise reduction effect. You may need to experiment with the opacity to find the right balance.
Flatten the Image: Once you’re satisfied with the noise reduction, you can flatten the image by going to “Layer” > “Flatten Image.”
Save the Image: Save the cleaned-up image using the “Save As” option, choosing the desired format and quality settings. Remember that saving as JPEG can introduce additional compression, so aim for a higher quality setting to minimize further quality loss.
